The essentials for playing, protecting your account, and understanding what CFBPools does—and does not—do.
Playing
Draft once, follow the season.
Each pool has 2–12 players. Everyone drafts up to 12 eligible FBS teams in a strict snake order, provided the complete roster fits within the 138-program field. A 12-player pool can therefore draft no more than 11 teams per player. The draft clock ranges from 60 seconds to 24 hours, or can be turned off for a slow draft; when a timed clock expires, the highest remaining team in the frozen preseason draft guide is picked automatically.
Autopicks use the same frozen guide for every player. The guide helps select teams only; it does not set points. Eligible FBS regular-season wins, FBS-vs-FCS wins, conference championships, non-CFP bowl wins, and College Football Playoff wins can score. Roster size, draft guide, and point rules lock when the live draft starts. Each team is final when its pick is accepted.
Point system
How scoring works
The point values were set and locked before the season, and every pool uses the same ones. Standings begin after the first eligible final result is processed.
2026 point values
Regular-season wins: 1.00–4.00 points. The bigger the upset, the more a win is worth.

The 138-team guide and team estimates can be refreshed before competition. For each eligible game, the team’s modeled win chance is then set before kickoff and never changed afterward. A 75% favorite earns 1.33 points, a 50–50 team earns 2.00, and a team at 25% or below earns the 4.00-point maximum. These are model estimates, not live betting odds.
A conference-championship win is its own 2.00-point result—not both a regular-season win and a title win. FBS-vs-FCS wins score a flat 1.00 and non-CFP bowl wins a flat 2.00. Keep full calculation precision; displayed team and pool totals round to two decimals.
How updates work: each team is final when its pick is accepted, and the point formula stays fixed. Team information and preseason estimates can be refreshed before competition; each matchup chance locks before kickoff, and corrections are recorded.

No entry fees. No prizes. No sportsbook.
CFBPools never collects, holds, advertises, or distributes entry fees or prizes. Public pools cannot include prize language. A private pool may contain only a neutral note that any arrangements happen independently and off-platform.
Players confirm they are at least 13 when creating or joining a pool. Betting and sportsbook advertising are excluded.
Privacy
Your profile and history are private by default.
Your Account page is visible only to you. Pool and standings pages use the nickname you chose for that pool. An optional clickable Instagram profile and short bio are shared with your pool-mates by default — only active players in the same pool can ever see them, and you can turn sharing off any time on your Account page. CFBPools has no public profile directory and does not expose account email addresses.
Account and pool history is retained until deletion; detailed product activity logs are retained for 90 days, while anonymous totals may be kept longer. Deleting an account removes identity, optional profile details, and notification data, then anonymizes historical membership while preserving picks and scoring integrity. You can export your account data first.
Advertising is currently disabled. Read the dedicated privacy and cookie notice for the conditions that must pass before it can be enabled.
